Long after the power of authority wanes, the power of influence remains. How long will you have a vital influence on the lives of others? Will you remain a force for good, a source of encouragement, a vital voice in the sea of other clamoring voices?
When discussion moves forward toward the future, don't begin your sentences with "I remember when . . ." Some will protest, "But there are valuable lessons to be learned from the past." They are correct, but those lessons remain anchored in the past, if there is not an interjection of something fresh, invigorating, and stimulating to the mind.
The growing mind is not a groaning mind. It is charged with a vitality that makes others say, "Oh, thanks for sharing. I think I'm going to get a copy of that book."
When someone says, "I never thought of it that way before," you know you're still extending your influence beyond the boundaries of where others would count you out.
Keep learning. Keep growing. Keep challenging yourself and others.
